Every year between 2 January and 2 February you have the opportunity to go on a Kripperlroas in Bad Ischl. On this trip you can visit private, home-made nativity scenes.
The meeting point is at the Trinkhalle, from here the Roas starts with the carriage to Giovanni, where you get a doughnut snack. The horse-drawn carriage then takes you through wintry Bad Ischl to various house nativity scenes and the Moroder nativity scene in the parish church. Afterwards you will be fortified with cheese spaetzle with roasted onions in the Hubertushof inn. You will see - it will certainly be an unforgettable Roas!

"The Kalss cot and cots by cot fathers from the region"
Cot exhibition in cooperation with the Ischler Heimatverein
In 1838, Franz Oberleitner vowed to build a cot as thanks for the birth of his son. It was set up every year. In 1889, Johann Kalss bought it and fitted it with moving figures. The cot shows the scene of the Nativity and depictions of Christmas events. The figures in Salzkammergut costume, the world of work and the crafts form a reflection of regional life. It has been in the museum since the 1980s, where it is displayed every year at Christmas time. Setting up and visiting the landscape nativity scenes in the Salzkammergut has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage since 2015.
In addition to the Kalss cot, box cots from cot fathers from the region will also be exhibited at Hotel Austria in 2025.
A special cot tour through the museum can be booked at info@stadtmuseum.at can be booked.
