Bad Ischl will once again become the residence of Emperor Franz Josef I in summer in the form
of an interactive painting of the former monarch. Visitors can meet the emperor in the city centre and engage in conversation with him as part of the Imperial Days 2024.

"KI.ser" in front of the Trinkhalle, Auböckplatz 5: Thurs 15 to Sun 18 August from 9:00 to 17:00.

The project, developed by an Austrian team, revives the past and brings historical figures back into the 21st century. The team around Roman Hansi (long-time member of the  "Science Busters" and graphic designer, among other things for documentaries on ORF III) is concerned with the potential of artificial intelligence.

Project "KI.ser" represents a new and interactive form of knowledge transfer. Curator and author Günther Fuhrmann provides the historical facts and, with his affinity for history, forms an integral member of the project.

Presented as a living painting, visitors to the Capital of Culture 2024 this year can visit the emperor in Bad Ischl and talk to him about the past, his family and personal matters. In an informal atmosphere the aim is to build a bridge between history and the present and offer everyone - from young to old - an opportunity to interactively engage with the person of Emperor Franz Joseph I and the zeitgeist of the 19th century Bad Ischl, known as the imperial summer residence of Emperor Franz Joseph and his family, provides the ideal setting for the innovative pilot project. The real Emperor Franz Joseph spent many summers in Bad Ischl, where he made historic decisions and received important statesmen.
