Imperial train - special nostalgic steam train

On 15 August, the special steam train - a nostalgic steam train with coaches - travels to Bad Ischl for the grand Kaiserfest opening. Then, as now, the Emperor s journey to Bad Ischl is a spectacle! The journey, peppered with numerous astonishing performances, is therefore not only a treat for railway enthusiasts, but also for young and old alike! 

After the arrival of the special train in Bad Ischl (railway station), the festive 
reception of the imperial couple and the traditional associations together with the 
passengers of the "special train" by the delegations of the town of Bad Ischl follows.
Afterwards, the procession with impressive accompaniment from 
music bands, the guests of honour of the town, traditional costume associations, pillory shooters, delegations of traditional regiments and passengers in 
historic costumes through the historic town to the spa gardens.


The imperial festival is celebrated in the Kurpark.
