Pitzingmoos
Bad Ischl, Oberösterreich, Österreich
The Pitzingmoos is a 4.5-hectare moorland area in the mountains south-east of Bad Ischl. The protected moor is located north of the Sandling near the Pitzingalm and the border between Upper Austria and Styria.
Like other moors in the Salzkammergut, the Pitzingmoos is partly overgrown with a dense felt of mountain pines. The existence of this scenic gem was already endangered by drainage ditches and grazing cattle. In the past decade, the Pitzingmoos - like other moors in the mountains of the Salzkammergut - has been renaturalised through targeted reactivation measures and thus secured for the future
