Peter Protschka Quintet feat. Rick Margitza

The Peter Protschka Quintet has been on tour throughout Europe every year since 2013. Friends who love to challenge themselves and go musically to places they haven't been before, in a luxurious state of familiarity.
The trumpeter Peter Protschka plays an American jazz of the early 60s, to which he gives a highly contemporary and casual outfit. Virtuoso and immensely musical, with energy and soul, he explores the genre with an excellent feeling for the combination of classical and current jazz trends. The quintet always gives new facets to traditional music at a masterful level.
The legendary tenor saxophonist Rick Margitza is still there: a strong and very independent voice from the New York post-bop movement of the late 1980s. He played in Miles Davis' legendary fusion band, Margitza was hired for a European tour in 1988 and recorded three albums with Miles Davis: "Amandla", "Live around the world" & "Live in Montreux". Margitza ́'s energetic and lyrical playing is still in great demand internationally.
The band, with other well-known European top musicians such as Martin Sasse (piano), Martin Gjakonovski (double bass) and Tobias Backhaus (drums), presents a program carried by poetry and energy, which is stylistically located in post bop and consists exclusively of their own compositions. After the live CD "Twilight Jamboree" (2015), the first studio album "Hearts and Minds" followed in 2022, which was enthusiastically received by the international press.
