DER GÖTTERGATTE is a rare pearl of the operetta repertoire, a curiosity. With light-footed wit and Lehár's musical esprit, the composer and his librettists take their cue from Greek mythology. The premiere in 1904 was acclaimed.
In search of a spectacular story for a new play, the theater director Mäandros personally appeals to the godfather Jupiter. He is quickly convinced - he wants to experience the material for the theatrical sensation himself and secretly mingles with Mercury among the mortals, only to be seduced by none other than his own wife Juno.
The Lehár Festival brings this enchanting gem to the Bad Ischl stage for the first time in a semi-staged production. Look forward to a pleasurable emotional chaos, framed by Lehár's touching, imaginative compositions.
