Marble Palace

- Suitable for groups
For Empress Elisabeth, Bad Ischl was not only the place where she got engaged to Emperor Franz Joseph I, but also an important retreat that she visited for several weeks each year. In the spacious park of the imperial villa, a wedding present from the imperial mother Sophie to the young couple, Franz Joseph has created a place for Sisi to relax - the so-called marble castle.
In the former tea house of the empress the exhibition program focuses on Sisi and the House of Habsburg, court cultures, the history of fashion and lifestyle, and the phenomenon of summer freshness. In addition, the topics nature and landscape, sun and light as well as salt mining are dealt with with an annually changing focus. The rich holdings of OÖ Landes-Kultur GmbH form the basis for this.
In 2021, “Dirndl stories” will be told in the Marmorschlössl Bad Ischl.
