Easter concert - The Merry Widow

On Sunday, 20 April 2025, at 17:00, the Kongress & TheaterHaus will be transformed into a musical stage for Franz Lehár's world-famous operetta "The Merry Widow" - performed in an exquisite concert format with young voices.
Immerse yourself in the Parisian flair of the turn of the century: The pulsating metropolis becomes the backdrop for a charming story about love, intrigue and the rescue of an entire operetta state from bankruptcy. At the centre of the story is the wealthy widow Hanna Glawari, who stands her ground between her childhood sweetheart Count Danilo and the advances of a money-hungry society. Lehár's immortal melodies such as "Lippen schweigen" or "Ja, das Studium der Weiber ist schwer" provide unforgettable moments full of romance, wit and humour.
In this concert performance, the music takes centre stage: the main singers present the plot with short dialogues, while elaborate sets and costumes are dispensed with. This creates an intimate setting in which the nuances of Lehár's masterful composition come into their own.
The artistic direction of the evening is in the hands of the renowned soprano Linda Plech and the conductor Jürgen Goriup (musical director of the operetta masterclass in Bad Ischl), whose international career has taken them to the world's great opera houses. With her fine feeling for music and her deep passion for operetta, she coordinates this musical highlight.
