"Boulevard of heroes"
There are true life stories that sound as if they were made up: Author Michael Köhlmeier has tracked them down and compiled a colorful panopticon of outstanding people from the most diverse walks of life. His modern heroic sagas are true to the facts, but freely formulated in literary terms, telling of genius and madness, of life's lies and great moments. For example, Thelonious Monk, who went to prison for his best friend; or Bob Dylan & Bobby Fischer and how the chess duel between these giants came about; Abebe Bikila, who ran 42.195km barefoot, or John Glenn, the astronaut who had to steer the landing manually after entering the earth's atmosphere...

Michael Köhlmeier's successful novels, stories, radio plays and songs have already won him numerous awards, most recently the Marie-Luise-Kaschnitz Prize for his complete works and the Ferdinand Berger Prize for his political commitment.
Michael Köhlmeier will be accompanied musically by saxophonist Klaus Dickbauer and jazz pianist Martin Gasselsberger. Like few others, they know how to react musically to the moods of the read texts, partly spontaneously improvised, partly composed and always in the inimitable sound of this internationally acclaimed duo.
