Rules of behaviour ------------------ ### for handling grazing livestock - Avoid contact with grazing livestock, do not feed animals, keep a safe distance! - Behave calmly, do not frighten grazing cattle! - Mother cows protect their calves, avoid encounters between mother cows and dogs! - Always keep dogs under control and on a short lead. If an attack by a grazing animal is foreseeable: Unleash immediately! - Do not leave hiking trails on mountain pastures and meadows! - If grazing animals block the path, keep as far away as possible! - When approaching grazing animals: Stay calm, do not turn your back, avoid the animals! - Leave the grazing area quickly at the first sign of restlessness! - Pay attention to fences! If there is a gate, use it, then close it again and cross the pasture quickly! - Treat the people working here, nature and the animals with respect! The longer the tour, the more stable the weather needs to be. Sudden spells of bad weather with rain and lightning are a great danger for hikers. Fog or residual snow well into the summer can make orientation almost impossible. On the other hand, extreme heat can make various ascents more difficult. ### Hiking maps Despite an exact description of the ascent, a hiking map is essential for precise orientation. The "Mitterbergstollen interest group" has restored existing "mouth holes" and sought out and restored tunnel entrances that no longer exist. Up to 16 tunnels of the Pernecker and Lauffner salt deposits can be visited on the signposted theme trail. There is also the mountain church, old miners' houses, the former Schaffer saw and other buildings and ruins. In addition, digital nature trails are being created as a contemporary offering. These allow information about habitats, animals and plants to be downloaded to a smartphone in advance and then accessed on site. Various stations such as scent stelae, listening funnels, a tree telephone and numerous other stations turn the ascent into an exciting journey of discovery, where the perceptual phenomena sometimes only become apparent through your own activity. At the summit of Siriuskogl, there is a spacious playground, a telescope on the Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Warte and an animal enclosure. The Siriuskogl restaurant is located directly on the Siriuskogl plateau and has long been a meeting place for gourmets and foodies. The brine pipeline from Hallstatt to Ebensee, a distance of almost 42 kilometres, was put into operation in 1607. It starts at the Ischl Calvary and leads along a beautiful hiking trail to the village of Pfandl.
